Dapper x Marcus - Interview

As part of our special Dapper x Marcus week, we asked him a few questions (special clothes of course)...

For those who follow us on social networks (and for those who do not yet it is here and there) you will know that we have the great chance to do a special week Dapper x Marcus. We strongly advise you to go there for a walk to discover all our special promos (on Homecore and Closed) as well as a great contest (which ends Saturday, June 27 at midnight so we hurry).

Marcus, our adopted limougeaud, for those who don't know him yet, is Marcus Ginyard, an American pro basketball player who currently plays for our CSP super team. Born on May 8, 1987 in Rochester, New York, he plays as a winger and back, and joined the CSP in 2019, to our delight.

He has become a big fan of his new city (after traveling for many years through Europe according to his club changes), and seems to have settled there for a while (at least we hope!). During his walks in the city, he once came to see us at the shop last fall. We must admit that it was a very nice meeting, the beginning of a friendship, and over the months a regular visitor.

The idea of a featuring quickly became obvious, and as part of this special week, we thought it would be fun to ask him some fashion-oriented questions (and a little about Limoges, too). Ever wanted to know what Marcus wears to sleep? How many shoes does he own? His worst fashion faux pas? His design of Dapper? Look no further, you will find all your answers here:)

Dapper: We start with an easy question, what is your favorite clothes? The one you would take everywhere with you?

Marcus Ginyard : If there's one thing I'd take with me all the time, it's my Ralph Lauren underwear! It may sound strange, but it's really the first layer of comfort in terms of clothes, and a bad pair can make you have a very difficult day. Well, if underwear doesn't count, my next answer would be my Lululemon hoodie. It is thin as a t-shirt, but with long sleeves, and a hood. When it's hot, I can roll up my sleeves, when it's cold I unroll it again, and when it rains a little, I can take out the hood. Super comfortable and super convenient. I even sleep with it sometimes!

D: What would you wear for your first date ?

MG : A pair of jeans,  a beautiful button-down shirt, and depending on the location, a pair of casual but stylish sneakers, or street shoes. If it's a little cold, I'd add a little blazer :)

D: And where would you take this person to Limoges?

MG : If it's for a coffee, we go to Kennedy's Café, for lunch at the Bistrot de Léon, and for the meal at Philippe Redon' house. If it's for a drink, at the Petit Caviste.

D: What do you wear to sleep?

MG : It depends on the weather... but in general I prefer to wear as little as possible to sleep! Usually just a t-shirt and underpants.

D: What's the worst clothes you've ever bought (and regret) or the worst fashion trend you've  ever followed ?

MG : I would say in my youth when I wore clothes that were three times my size... when what was slim and suitable for your size was not considered "cool". If I could, I would erase those memories from my memory!

D: What is your favorite place to stay in Limoges or in the corners?

MG : There are several! The Fabrique Du Café, the banks of Vienne, the rue de la Boucherie, the Halles Centrales Place de la Motte... I don't know if I already have a favorite place in Limoges, not yet, but I discover a lot of very cool places that are next to my home.

D: How many pairs of shoes do you have?

MG : So, only here in Limoges would I say about thirty... and I probably have 30 or 40 more at home in the USA.

D: Is there anything you've always dreamed of wearing but never dared to do?

MG: I always wondered if I could wear a suit, but with shorts. I think the first time I saw someone wearing that was Lebron James during the NBA Finals in 2016. I'm not sure I want to wear a set like that, but I've always been curious about whether it could work on me. (NB: Dapper thinks he could)

D: The best dressed man and woman in your opinion?

MG : I don't really follow the fashion world very closely, but nowadays we're constantly bombarded with images even when we're not looking for it, so I see images of personalities passing by from time to time, and they're mostly pro athletes. First, I would like to honor Ashlyn Harris, a member of the WOMEN'S National Football Team in the USA. I really like to look at his fashion choices. I would also say just one name: Rihanna. No need for explanations! Lebron James and Dwayne Wayne, on the boy side, are also among my favorites. Two guys who are always classy but also make more daring choices from time to time. Idris Elba too , who seems to me the perfect definition of Dapper!

D: What do you think makes someone "Dapper"?

MG : In my opinion, being "Dapper" is a mix of style and behavior. I would say clean, classic, confident and charismatic :) The 4 Cs of Dapper haha!

A big thank you to Marcus for playing the Q&A game for us, and a huge thank you to Katya for the photos, and if you want to know more about Marcus, we invite you to follow him on Insta or check out his website
